Course Overview

Forklift (lift truck) certification trains and evaluates operators to safely run counterbalance forklifts, reach trucks, order pickers, and truck-mounted (Moffett-style) forklifts. The course follows the CSA B335 standard referenced by Alberta OHS Code Part 19, pairing classroom theory with a hands-on practical evaluation. In Canada, operators must be trained and proven competent before running a forklift — this course gives you the documented proof OHS officers look for.

Why AFSC

Alberta’s on-site forklift certification specialists

For more than 25 years, AFSC has delivered on-site forklift operator certification to employers across Alberta — from Calgary and Edmonton to Red Deer — as well as British Columbia and throughout Western Canada. Rather than sending your crew off-site, our certified trainers come to your facility and certify operators on the equipment they actually run.

Every course follows the CSA B335 lift truck standard referenced by Alberta OHS Code Part 19, so you receive the documented theory and practical evaluation records that OHS officers expect. Operators who pass earn a certificate and wallet card valid for three years.

As a CCIB-certified Indigenous business with 25 years behind it, AFSC is a trusted training partner for government contracts and resource-sector clients. Need more than forklifts? We also offer aerial work platform and heavy equipment operator certification — ask about combined on-site sessions.

Common Questions

Forklift certification
FAQs

How long does forklift certification take?
Most operators certify in a single session — roughly 6–8 hours for new operators and about 4 hours for experienced operators or refreshers. We confirm timing based on your crew size when you book.
How much does forklift certification cost?
On-site forklift certification is $150 per operator. Group bookings and forklift Train-the-Trainer programs are quoted per project — request a quote with your crew size and location.
Is forklift certification legally required in Alberta?
Yes. Alberta OHS Code Part 19 (Powered Mobile Equipment) requires that forklift operators be trained and proven competent, and employers must keep documented training and evaluation records. AFSC training follows the CSA B335 standard, so you have the proof OHS officers look for.
Which forklift types do you certify operators on?
We certify operators on counterbalance forklifts, reach trucks, and order pickers, plus related lift trucks — matched to the equipment your team actually runs. [Confirm AFSC’s exact class coverage.]
How long is a forklift certification valid?
Forklift certification is valid for three years, in line with the CSA B335 refresher recommendation. Operators receive a certificate and wallet card on successful completion (minimum 80% on both theory and practical).
Do you provide forklift training on-site, and where?
Yes — we deliver training on-site at your facility across Alberta (including Calgary, Edmonton, and Red Deer), British Columbia, and throughout Western Canada, so your crew certifies on familiar equipment with no travel or downtime.
